How we reduced GoVolt cloud infrastructure costs by 67%

At a Glance

In 2024, GoVolt. experienced growth beyond expectations. Therefore, the technical team decided to focus on developing new features for the product, with the goal of launching an innovative system based on data analysis and predictive capabilities. To support this expansion, a serverless architecture was implemented on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). After the development and consolidation phase, in collaboration with the technical direction of GoVolt, we dedicated ourselves to optimizing the existing infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Process

Service Rationalization

We conducted a detailed analysis of the main cost items, identifying areas for improvement. We optimized the use of GCP functions, moving less used functions to Gen1 and implementing a cloud scheduler to prepare instances before peak usage times for Gen2 functions.


Traffic Management with Pub/Sub

To improve the resilience and efficiency of the system, GoVolt chose Google Cloud Pub/Sub, an asynchronous messaging service that enables the decoupling of data production and consumption services. This approach has allowed our teams to manage traffic between the various system components reliably and scalably.


Database Optimization

We improved database interactions, optimizing queries and indexes to reduce response times. The adoption of these practices allowed for increased efficiency and speed of the system with smaller, lower-cost virtual instances.


Functionality Distribution

We migrated some functionalities to specific platforms like Compute Engine and Kubernetes Engine. This allowed us to make the most of these advanced Google Cloud services' features, lowering computational costs.
